This is a campaign worthy of support. Our Chowan GOP does not have the cash available to support Hood, but some of our Chowan Republicans may be able to make a donation. I encourage you to give what you can. As Hood points out, a vigorous campaign against Basnight will force him to respond and prevent him from using his war chest funds against other Republic candidates.

Subject: Every County Has A Stake In Senate District 1

Dear Chowan County Republican Executive Committee:

I am the Republican candidate for N.C. Senate District 1. If there is a state wide race in North Carolina this is it. Our state cannot be free of the current corrupt political machine until Marc Basnight is replaced by a principled conservative who works for the good of all of the people in our state.

He is maintaining his seat primarily because his constituents are afraid to cross him. Because of that fear it is difficult for me to raise money in the district. Many people won't give more than $50 per person in order to prevent their names being made public. Your help is crucial in raising funds for me.

A Civitas poll has Basnight under 50% for the first time in history. This puts me within striking range with Basnight 49 percent and me 39 percent. I have done no public advertising. Senate Caucus funds are low and are being focused on six seats that are polling closer than mine.

If I can raise a minimum of $50,000 I can beat Basnight with newspaper ads and personal contacts. Also, a strong campaign against Basnight will force him to use his money for himself, so he will be unable to give as much as $500,000 to other liberal candidates.

I have worked hard to preserve freedom, property rights, jobs, and fiscally conservative government. You will also see Senator Basnight saying that he will never vote to send illegal immigrants out of the USA. I, as an elected official, have dealt successfully with the Federal Government's attempts to take 30,000 acres of prime farmland in Beaufort and Washington Counties, the threatened EPA shut down of an industry employing more than 1,000 people, and changing the state storm water rules.

Senator Basnight is an ultra liberal. Look at his positions on same sex marriage and illegal immigration. He raised taxes every year he has been in office and increased Medicaid and pork barrel spending. He supported unbridled growth in regulations and all aspects of government as well as facilitated increased narcotics use. Senator Basnight controls government in North Carolina, so he is responsible.

Defeating Basnight will break the back of "legal" corruption in North Carolina. Go to my web site to see that corruption is sophisticatedly legal. I will not sell government.

Voters in North Carolina have been looking for a candidate who can defeat Basnight. The political timing is excellent and I am the candidate with the experience and courage to do the job.
